Congratulations to Journey85 for Winning Q4.7 and to Nahanni74 for Finishing Top of the Q4 TLB

Our final game of the quarter (and the year) resulted in the largest turnout yet...8 players!  and a new player Steve W. with PS screen name of wonder914 (he is a friend of Roger's).

It was a pretty epic battle especially once we got down 3-handed (between Journey85, EFEN Captain and myself)...we were 3-handed for nearly 1 hour (100 hands were played 3-handed and the entire tournament consisted of only 196 hands). 

The results of the tourney are posted in table below and the TLB points for this quarter are posted on the side of the blog.  I may have to check my spreadsheet or have an independent audit conducted, but congratulations to nahanni (me) for finishing top of the quarterly TLB.  This concludes Q4 of our inaugural online league.  We will be starting back up on January 6, 2011.  Like I said before, over the break I plan to post the point system and propose some special game formats...I'll need your feedback on the blog, so don't be shy, and leave some comments.

5 people showed up for tonight's game...and it was over fairly quickly (45 min) as yours truly was “hit in the face with the deck”…I don’t think I have ever had such a good run of cards before…like ever!  Broadway suited connectors, AKs, Pocket pairs upon pocket pairs, flopping sets and straights, turning boats, rivering a straight flush, etc.  Pretty sick.  One only dreams of having hands like that in a big tournament like the Sunday Million with over a million dollar prizepool.  Anyhow…I guess our $25 prizepool will have to do.  Results are below with the quarterly TLB updated on the side of the blog.

Next week will be the last game this quarter…come out to play even if it is your first game.  Then our next game won’t be until January 6^th.  I will send out a reminder email…I think I will start sending the reminders out on Wednesdays.

Also, after seeing how the first quarter went, I am thinking of revamping the point system a bit so that all players get points each game (not just the top 50%) and all games will count for the quarterly TLB and yearly TLB (originally I was setting it up for top 5 games per quarter and top 20 games per year)…but I think it would be better if all games were counted.  I plan to post the details of the point system in a separate blog later.

…also…brief reminder that GPN Live will be starting back up in 7 short weeks…more details to follow…

We had marginal success in this first 'matrix event'...5 players to the first game, nobody else except myself wanted to play the 8:15 and 8:30 game…but then 99RAW99 showed up around 8:30 and joined me for the 8:45 game and that convinced Crabbyjoe154 and Journey85 to register for the 8:45 game as well.  The last table shows the overall points/ranking for the matrix and the quarterly standings are updated on the side of the blog.

OH...BTW...I am assuming that you guys don't want to play next thursday right?  Besides living by myself, it isn't thanksgiving for me, so if you are interested in playing, let me know and I can set up a game (or 2)...and we can also set up private heads-up games too...just FYI...

GPN Q4.5 - 1st Matrix Event

It's THURSDAY!!!!  And that can mean only 1 thing...P-O-K-E-R!!!!!  Despite receiving no feedback on the proposed 'Matrix Event', I decided to create 4 tournaments spaced 15 minutes apart.  I’m not going to list the tourney IDs (it’s a bit of a pain)…just look under Tourney\Private and for the following titled games per the following starting times:

20:00  GPN – Q4.5.1

20:15  GPN – Q4.5.2

20:30  GPN – Q4.5.3

20:45  GPN – Q4.5.4

All games are $5+$0.50 and the password is the same as before.  Points will be awarded the same per game, but the final reported points will be based on the ranking that results from the summation of all points earned across all 4 games (i.e. first place points will be awarded to the person who earns the most points across all 4 games).  Play all 4 games for the potential to earn the most points.  This matrix event format is a trial…if people like it maybe we can work it into rotation once per month or once per quarter.

If you have never played 4 games at the same time…there are different ways you can handle it…Poker Stars has a few options for multi-tabling…click on the tiny double square icon that is on the lower right hand corner of the chip tray while seated at a table for multi-tabling options.  Personally, I find tiling the tables with a little bit of overlap between all the tables is the best to maximize my laptop’s screen ‘real-estate’.

No Show

soooo...my function got canceled and I tried to register for the 8:00 game, but nobody else showed up.  I guess we have next week (unless people just aren't into this).

I haven't received any feedback regarding the proposed "matrix" format for next week.  Are you guys interested?
