Congratulations to Jim for GPN Live Finale Win!
Hello All,
Roger emailed me with the following to post on the blog...
Roger emailed me with the following to post on the blog...
Last night on the very first hand, with the blinds at 25/50 Bill and Jim started strong against each other with over 2000 chips in the pot with Jim taking down Bill with a full house.
Things settled down a little after that but Bill kept raising early on trying to bully the boys. I believe that the first all in was Tony; however no callers.
I step out of the room for one minute for a drink and the next thing I know is Billy is out. His AK off went against Jim’s KK. The Kings held (No "A" on the river as Joe always says).
The next to go out was Tony, can't remember the hand though.
The next was me, fighting a small stack all night long. I had about 8 BB's left with 33, and pushed all in. I got two (Brad and Jim) callers and spiked a 3 on the flop. Thinking I was in good shape, until the betting continued between Brad and Jim. Come to find out, Brad had 99 and spiked a 9 on the flop as well. Good bye Roger.
While on tilt and pouting in the other room Brent and Brad went out shortly thereafter, leaving Steve, Jim and Bill to fight it out.
After a little while, I decided to deal for them. With the chips going back and forth between them, the beef jerky wild card hand came up between Bill and Steve. The blinds are 400/800. Steve has AA and decides to smooth call and Bill has the "wild card hand" and decides to check. The flop comes out all "rags". Steve ponders his bet and decides to slow play his AA as Bill has been aggressive all night and set him up for the kill. Well, his plan worked as Bill goes all in, and Steve snap calls and flips over his pocket "A's". Bill caught with his hands in the cookie jar, flips over T6o, and says "shit". With Steve way ahead in the hand, the dealer "me" slowly flips over the turn, a T, which gives Bill some new life. As we anxiously await, I turn over the river and it’s another T, to give Bill the winning hand with trips to take down Steve's pocket A's.
This leaves Steve short stacked and on a big tilt and shortly thereafter Jim takes down Steve with a 3rd place finish and $150 in his pocket. This leaves Jim and Bill left to fight for 1st and 2nd, ironically they both finished 1st and 2nd in the regular season as well. Anyway, with a lot of back and forth of chips, Jim finally takes down Bill for the win and the bracelet.
1 = Jim = $780
2 = Bill = $380
3 = Steve = $150
4 = Brent/Brad = $90
5 = Brent/Brad = $40
6 = Roger = $20
7 = Tony = $20
8 = Billy = $20
Congratulations to all! Can’t wait for new season in January…in the meantime, don’t forget to play on Thursday night, 8:pm, on PS…GPN Online baby!

New to Poker Stars and/or Poker Stars' Private Tourneys?
If you are new to private tourneys on Poker Stars (PS), or just new to PS in general, here are some tips:
- To find a particular tourney, you can click on Requests\Find a Tournament and then type in the Tournament ID. The lobby for that tournament will open up.
- You can also find private tourneys by clicking on the Tourney button, then underneath the Tourney button you’ll find the Private button to the far right of the various tourney groupings. Scroll down to the start time and find the name of the tourney (I’ll always start the name off with “GPN”)
- If you follow the steps above and can’t find the tourney listed in the private tourney section, it could be that your game filter is blocking the tourney from being viewed (for example, if your filter was set to only show tourneys under $5, then you won’t be able to see our private tourney in the list). The filter button is just below, to the left of the tourney listing box.
- I was asked whether or not players could collude with each other by, for example, calling each other up on the phone to tell each other their hole cards. In general (outside our private game setting), yes this is something that you could encounter while playing online…but you really would only be exposed to something like that, if at all, in a 1 or 2 table sit-n-go. In large multi-table tourneys, the likely hood of 2 or more people playing together at the same table is rare. If you are ever playing and you see something that doesn’t seem right, it is best to take a note on each player and if it were to happen again, then email PS about it…they can research each player’s playing history and determine if they are colluding. Now…as for our game…I trust that everyone will play honestly and will not call each other up to discuss hole cards/strategy while the hand is in progress, and will not speculate about other player’s hands in the chat box while the hand is in progress…basically, will follow the same sort of ethical and etiquette rules that we follow when playing live.

GPN Online - Blog Kick-Off
Hey GPNers,
I thought of creating an online blog site to post the Tournament Leader Board rankings. I'm still learning how to use this blog site...but in the future I plan to post the weekly results, as well as, update the quarterly and yearly TLB rankings.
As for tonight we had 5 players join us for our inaugural GPN Online event. The players were:
